Syntypes, National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C. 2019 (1 male)., National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C. 2161 (1 male), National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C. 44408 (1 male).

Type Locality

Columbia River and Puget Sound, Washington.

Range

British Columbia, California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. Introduced into Sweden (Svardson, 1965:92) and Japan (Kamita, 1970:140).

Habitat

Streams and lakes.

Remarks

Astacus leniusculus was placed on the Official List of Specific Names in Zoology, name number 2244, in Opinion 855 of the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature. (See Melville, 1968:84).
