Sauroplasma du Toit, 1938
Type species Sauroplasma thomasi du Toit, 1938
Merogony is absent, binary fission or budding into two daughter cells is present. Only three species in African reptiles have been described. The type species is known from the giant girdle-tailed lizards Zonurus giganteus and Zonosaurus madagascariensis. Life cycle, pathogenicity and vectors are unknown.
