Theclini

This tree diagram shows the relationships between several groups of organisms.
The root of the current tree connects the organisms featured in this tree to their containing group and the rest of the Tree of Life. The basal branching point in the tree represents the ancestor of the other groups in the tree. This ancestor diversified over time into several descendent subgroups, which are represented as internal nodes and terminal taxa to the right.
You can click on the root to travel down the Tree of Life all the way to the root of all Life, and you can click on the names of descendent subgroups to travel up the Tree of Life all the way to individual species.

A relatively uniform tribe of medium-sized to large and showy hairstreaks. The center of diversity is in temperate Asia, with some members extending to the Nearctic and southeast Asia. Many of the larvae feed on various deciduous hardwood tree species. Many new taxa have been described since the 1950's by Japanese and Chinese researchers.
Discussion of Phylogenetic Relationships
Phylogenetic relationships as implied by Eliot (1973) and Hsu and Lin's cladistic analysis of the Quercusia group (1994). Eliot based the subgroups within the Thecla section on the revision of Shirozu and Yamamoto (1956). Many of these genera contain only one or a few species and appear to be quite closely-related to one another. If the aim of erecting a genus is to provide a hypothesis of grouping, then it is evident that these taxa are oversplit.
