Introduction
Neotropical fruit-feeders. Fountainea species were formerly included in Memphis. (Both have been viewed as belonging within Anaea by authors in the past). Members of this genus can be distinguished from members of Memphis by the shape of the anal angle of the forewing. It is more or less a right angle in Fountainea and strongly hook-shaped in Memphis. There is some disagreement as to species circumscriptions in Fountainea. The taxonomy here, with a relatively small number of species, is that of Lamas (2004).References
